Passengers on a double decker bus in Hadleigh escaped unharmed after the vehicle overturned in strong winds.

However the driver of the bus, which was blown into a field in Coram Street at around 8am this morning by winds of more than 60mph, was trapped inside.

He has now been freed, but is currently being treated for his injuries by paramedics.

Elsewhere a number of trees have been brought down by the force of winds in the area. Commuters travelling into Sudbury from Bury St Edmunds have faced lengthy delays due to this problem on the A134.

There have also been travel difficulties in Halstead with the A131 partially blocked in both directions between the Russell’s Road junction and the Peterfield’s Lane junction, due to a fallen down tree.
