A charity is hoping Sudbury women will answer a plea to take part in an annual walk.

The Girls Night Out moonlight walk, which raises funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care, takes place on Saturday, September 13.

Already more than 1,300 women have registered to walk either 11.2 or six miles around Bury St Edmunds in their pyjamas, to raise funds for the charity, which helps people facing life-shortening illnesses.

Organisers are hoping enough women will sign up in the next fortnight for it to hit the 1,500-mark.

Everyone taking part will be treated to a T-shirt and a pair of flashing bunny ears, as well as entertainment at the start, along the way and at the end.

There are also refreshments en route, including hot chocolate at the end, and a medal for taking part.

Fundraiser Jenny Baskett said: “We are encouraging women from Sudbury and the surrounding villages to walk with us and to bring their sisters, mums, aunties, friends and colleagues.”

Registration costs £15 per person. To sign up for the walk, or to get more information about it, go to www.stnicholashospice care.org.uk – or pick up a form from the town’s hospice shop in Gainsborough Street.
