Staff from a Sudbury garage are celebrating after completing nearly 200 years of combined service.
A long service award was recently presented to parts manager Adam Beecroft, 47, after working for 30 years at Barrett-Lee Garage.
Director Michael Holt, who has been with the company 34 years, said: “When we presented Adam with his award, we started talking about how long other members of staff had been with the company. Nearly all have been here 10 years or more, and some more than 30 years.”
Workshop foreman Simon Parsons has been with the company 31 years and his wife Hazel, a forecourt manager, for 25 years. Debbie Smith, a forecourt worker, has been with the company 19 years, and fellow worker Monika Stefanakova 11 years. Technicians Mark Downes and Michael Notley have been with Barrett-Lee for 12 and 11 years and service advisor Carl Sibbons joined the company 15 years ago, followed by Carly Ashdown, accounts, 11 years ago.
“We feel the length of time people are staying with us is quite an achievement for a small, close-knit company. We are very proud to be able to offer people genuine lifelong job opportunities, suggesting we are a good company to work for,” said Mr Holt.
The garage has been in Byford Road for 20 years and, before that, in Northern Road.
