A professional opera singer with links to the local area will begin this year’s season of free lunchtime concerts at St Peter’s in Sudbury.

The Tuesday lunchtime concerts will start on Tuesday, April 11, running all through the summer.

Over the season, a broad range of accomplished musical entertainment will be provided between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

Launching the new season will be Mark Saberton, a professional opera singer who has performed with many of the leading opera companies, including Royal Opera and English National Opera.

Mark, who grew up in Suffolk and used to attend Cornard Upper School, has also broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

He is currently on tour with Swansea City Opera in Lakme by Delaibes, which comes to the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, on May 7.

Other acts performing over the season include musicians from the world of jazz, folk, classical, spirituals, harp, organ, flute, piano and more.

Drinks and biscuits will be provided and visitors are welcome to take their lunch and to come and go as they please.
