ST PETER’S on Sudbury Market Hill was filled with the sound of music on Saturday evening when the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra staged its spring concert, conducted by Matthew Andrews, with violinist Gillon Cameron.

Concert-goers filled the venue to listen to Schubert’s symphony No 3 in D major and Beethoven’s concerto for violin.

Helen Morgan of the orchestra said: “Those who came to hear Gillon Cameron play Mendelssohn’s violin concerto with the symphony orchestra just over two years ago knew to expect an exciting performance from this energetic and powerful performer who returned to Sudbury on Saturday to play the Beethoven volin concerto.”

The orchestra, which meets on a weekly basis to play a range of classical and light music, gives three or four concerts a year.
