A children’s play centre has set up a new session specifically for children with disabilities and learning difficulties.

Little Kingfisher play area at the Kingfisher Leisure Centre in Sudbury has launched Just Play, soft play sessions funded by Activities Unlimited to allow children with a disability or learning difficulty and their siblings to enjoy soft play.

Claire Turnbull, project manager of the scheme, said: “This session was introduced as we found a real demand for families who wanted their children to have the same fun experience as others but in an environment where parents do not have to be on tenter hooks wondering how their child will react to others or judging their child, which can happen when they attend a public session.

“A time both parent and child can relax and have fun, this also creates a time for parents to socialise and share experiences and help support one another.

“We are thrilled with the funding aid from Activities Unlimited to be able to offer this service to the children of Sudbury and the surrounding areas and cannot wait for our next session to run.”

The sessions will run on the first Thursday of every month between 4.30pm and 6.30pm costing £2.50 a session.

Your child’s first session is free if you are registered with Activities Unlimited or sign up on the day by visiting www.activities-unlimited.co.uk.
