Members of five weight loss groups handed over a mountain of clothes that no longer fit them to charity on Tuesday after shedding a whopping 551 stone since Christmas.

Slimming World groups in Sudbury, Long Melford, Great Cornard, Hadleigh and Clare lost the weight as part of The Big Slimming World Clothes Throw, which will see 200 bags of unwanted clothes donated to Cancer Research UK shops in the local area which can then be sold on for up to £25 per bag.

Georgeena Butler, Slimming World consultant for Sudbury and Long Melford, said: “With the amount of clothing members have given away, we will be able to raise money for people less fortunate than ourselves.

“I lost my mum to cancer seven years ago, so it is a very personal cause to me.”
