Bulmer-born singer-songwriter Fiona Bevan is to offer free songwriting lessons as part of her UK tour.

Fiona is performing at the John Peele Centre in Stowmarket tonight alongside fellow headliner Kal Lavelle.

Tickets are still available for the gig, with any budding female songwriters invited to attend a writing masterclass at the centre before the show if they have bought a ticket.

“Kal and I were shocked at the low percentage of female songwriters in this country,” said Fiona.

“We wanted to do the workshops to encourage female songwriters, and help them over some of the obstacles or challenges that we have also faced.

“I believe there are a lot of female songwriters out there, maybe the issue is confidence, in believing in yourself and taking yourself seriously in a competitive and male-dominated arena.

“If we can help with this, we can help women find their songwriting voice and help get them on the road to being a songwriter.”

The workshop will run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, before doors open for the concert at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10.

Fiona and Kal will perform at St Peter’s in Ipswich on Sunday, July 27, with a further masterclass before the concert.

Fiona recently released her first album, Talk to Strangers, and is best known for writing the One Direction number one single Little Things along with Ed Sheeran.
