IT is not quite the same as Olympic gymnastic bar balancing, but children found the sport of slacklining – balancing on a narrow piece of nylon webbing – quite a challenge at an Olympic-themed event on Saturday.

Sible Hedingham Parish Council staged its second annual family fun day, following on from its hugely successful Olympics event held last year.

With a mixture of sport and fun for all ages, the recreation ground came alive with fun and games for the afternoon.

This included an “It’s a Knockout” family challenge and a silly Olympics events featuring egg catching, space hopper relays, hobby horse showjumping and a horizontal bungee jump.

Medals and prizes went to winners of each competition.

Trudy Partridge, wife of parish councillor Steve Partridge, who helped organise the event, said: “It certainly seemed very successful although the weather could have been better.

“People seemed to have a lot of fun, which was the whole idea of the event.”
