A CHARITY expedition to Everest next year will include a financial director from Long Melford.
Simon Coll, 43, will be part of the expedition hoping to raise £500,000 for the St James’ Place Foundation, which supports people in need as a result of disability or disadvantage.
Simon, a former Ipswich Town triallist, is one of 26 climbers who will fly to Nepal in April to trek more than 120 miles to the Everest base camp at 17,500ft, before attempting to reach Kala Patthar at 18,500ft.
The money raised from the trek will support hospices and children with special needs, as well as a charity in Nepal which has built centres to help combat malnutrition in children in the country.
Simon, who is head of business for St James’ Place, one of the UK’s leading wealth management companies, said: “I’ve never undertaken anything like this before – it’s a unique opportunity and one I am looking forward to immensely.”
