A CHARITY rugby match in memory of a Lavenham soldier killed in Afghanistan takes place this month.
A team from Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club will take on a side from the Household Cavalry at 2.30pm on Saturday, November 26 at Bury’s ground in tribute to Lance Corporal Jo Woodgate, who was killed in March 2010.
There will also be a raffle, auction and collections, with proceeds split between the Royal British Legion and the Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund.
Organiser Mark Consadine said: “This is for Jo. In the last few years, hundreds have been killed in combat, but you have four or five soldiers wounded survivors for each one killed – they need our support and that’s the whole point.”
