Staff and pupils at Long Melford Primary School are set to celebrate the school’s 40th birthday next week with a 1970s dress-up day.

On Tuesday, teachers and children will travel back in time to 1974 when the primary school first opened its doors.

As part of the celebrations, headteacher Paula Hagan has invited former pupils to talk about what the school was like in the 70s.

On Wednesday, between 1.30pm and 4.30pm, the school will be hosting an open afternoon for ex-pupils and members of the community to visit and reminisce on the school’s history.
