Staff at a salon in Sudbury are undertaking an overnight marathon challenge to raise money for the fight against breast cancer.
The group of eight women will join thousands of others from across the country to take part in the 26.2-mile Moon Walk around Clapham Common in May.
The charity Walk the Walk aims to raise £6million in grants for cancer research projects, treatments and raising awareness with the yearly fundraising challenge, which has grown in size since it began in New York 16 years ago.
Ann-Marie Sell, owner of Creative Couture Salon in North Street Parade, signed up for the Moon Walk with a group of staff in October.
The reaction from clients has been good so far with many surprised at the staff’s marathon-sized effort, but endeavouring to pledge their support.
“I think it’s close to everyone’s heart,” said Ann-Marie. “Being a salon, we do get a lot of women. You do get really close to these people. Some of them I have known for 17 years.”
With just two months until the big event, the group, called Team Everest, are pushing ahead with their fundraising in order to reach their target of £5,000.
