Respected theologian to speak in Lavenham

The only living theologian to be quoted in the world-wide best selling novel The Da Vinci Code is to deliver a lecture at Lavenham Church.

The Church of St Peter and St Paul, in Lavenham will host The Very Revd Professor Martyn Percy, Dean of Christ Church, Oxford to deliver the third annual Jean Guy Memorial Lecture on September 15.

Professor Percy’s lecture is entitled ‘Honest, Decent, Legal, Truthful? Confessions of a Theologian Working in the Marketplace’, speaking about his work in public ethics in advertising, film, media, consumer affairs and also about religious literacy.

The Revd. Stephen Earl, Rector of Lavenham Church said: “We are delighted to welcome Professor Percy to Lavenham.

He is a highly respected theological educator, and this interactive lecture will draw extensively on Martyn’s roles in public life.”

The free event starts at 7pm, with donations to the church welcomed.
