Questionnaires are to be sent to Sudbury residents on the possible introduction of parking permits in the town.

Householders will be asked whether they regularly experience difficulties parking outside their home, who they believe is responsible and if they think parking permits or restrictions would solve the problem.

The questionnaire, which was devised by Sudbury Town Council clerk Sue Brotherwood and Suffolk County Council highways officer Steve Merry, also asks how much people would be willing to pay for a permit, with typical costs between £50 and £80 year.

It is thought the introduction of permits could prevent commuters and town centre workers, who refuse to pay £2 a day to stay in the town’s long-stay car parks, from clogging up residential streets.
