The dedication of a volunteer at a Sudbury charity is to be remembered with a plaque in her honour.

The Befriending Scheme, which has recently moved to new offices above Northcroft Social Club, is raising money for the plaque in memory of Sophie Bavington.

Miss Bavington, from Bures Road in Great Cornard, regularly helped out at the charity – which supports vulnerable adults – before her death in June 2012 at the age of 23.

Last week, Northcroft Social Club held a charity quiz night and raised a total of £345, which will used by the charity.

The club’s darts team has also helped the cause by nominating the scheme as its chosen charity of the year.

This will mean the charity, which still needs more volunteers, will receive a cheque for £500.
