Pupils recognised at Sudbury school’s sports awards

The outstanding contribution to the academy sport awards at Ormiston Sudbury Academy went to Cory Willings and Amy King of Year 9, Harrison Bonner and Molly Cracknell of Year 8 and George Bareham and Molly Ratliff of Year 7.

This was for their consistent effort, hard work and determination throughout the year in numerous sports.

A packed auditorium was the venue for Ormiston Sudbury Academy’s annual PE Presentation evening attended by pupils, parents and family members as the evening reviewed each sport and awards were handed out.

Highlights of the year’s sporting achievements included the U16’s boys basketball team winning the western area league and finishing fourth in Suffolk, the Year 9 and 10 netball team qualifying for the area finals from their league and the u14 trampolining squad winning the area competition and qualifying for the county competition.

Mrs Wilson, academy principal, said: “It was a delight to present awards at another showcase event which highlighted the range of sports covered over the last year. A pleasure to see both sportsmen and sportswomen reaching new heights in their chosen disciplines.”

Earlier in the day, students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 and competed for their houses in the school sports day.
