Pupils at Hillside Special School in Sudbury this week hosted a special lunch for members of the Royal Air Forces Association as the school marked the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
Last week the school decorated a tree with poppies at the Christmas Tree Festival in St Peter’s, Sudbury, to mark the anniversary.
Pupils helped out with the running of the lunch for Sudbury branch members, making Christmas crackers, with Sudbury Tesco providing food and music from Long Melford Silver Band.
The school’s work with the Association began when some of its members came to visit on the day of the school’s remembrance assembly.
Students and staff decided it would be a nice idea to provide a celebratory lunch for the servicemen.
The school’s tree is now at All Saint’s Church in Sudbury where it will be displayed over the Christmas period.
