The Cock Horse Inn in Lavenham recently hosted its first quiz evening in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care, a cause organiser Dani Standring said was close to her heart.

The event last month raised £401.30 for the Hospice, thanks to entry fees, donations and a raffle.

It is now hoping to run the quizzes regularly, in aid of a different charity each time.

Mrs Standring said: “The Hospice is very close to my heart as it looked after my nan in the last few weeks of her life. Through such a horrendous time all the staff were fantastic at making the situation as good as it could be.”

George Chilvers, St Nicholas Hospice Care Community Fundraiser, visited the pub, in Church Street, to collect the funds.

He said: “To have raised more than £400 through a pub quiz is absolutely brilliant. Donations such as this really do make a difference – we rely on them to enable us to continue supporting people like Dani’s nan.”
