Eight police officers are under investigation for misconduct following a police chase which resulted in the death of a former Sudbury Upper School student.

Matthew Seddon was killed when his Ford Fiesta crashed on the A33 in Reading on February 11.

The 19-year-old was being pursued by six police cars after failing to stop. He was thrown from his car as a result of the crash and was hit by at least one of the following police vehicles.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has now confirmed that eight police officers have been served misconduct notices as part of the inquiry.

IPCC Commissioner Derrick Campbell said there was an “indication” officers had acted in a manner which would justify disciplinary proceedings.
