THE son of a pensioner involved in a hit-and-run accident in Sudbury this week spoke of his disgust and anger at the driver who left his mother lying on the road badly injured – with her six-year-old grandaughter looking on.

Donna Rumsey, 84, was hit by the vehicle as she stood on a single-track bridge feeding ducks in Brundon Lane on Monday afternoon, a popular spot for dog walkers and families.

Her six-year-old granddaughter Olivia Rumsey was knocked against the bridge railings and bumped her head.

Company director John Rumsey, 43, described the incident as “disgusting”. He has begun putting up posters around the beauty spot appealing for witnesses.
