A motorcyclist who had crashed and injured his shoulder near Long Melford was located by the police helicopter last night before being taken to hospital by Ambulance.

The male rider was involved in a single vehicle collision on his black Honda 125 bike on Lavenham Road between Long Melford and Lavenham at around 9.12pm last night (September 19).

In a ditch and unaware of his exact location the police helicopter was dispatched, with powerful search lights used to locate the rider, before road units and an ambulance were sent.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

A police spokeswoman said: “The motorcyclist had come off his bike into a ditch in a very rural area, he was injured and didn’t know where he was.

“We were concerned for his safety so the police helicopter was dispatched and it proved crucial in locating him.”
