VOLUNTEERS who give up their spare time to help police prevent crime have been commended for their dedication.
Around 70 volunteers who support community police schemes across Babergh were acknowledged at a celebration evening held at Sudbury Police Station.
Members of the area’s CCTV volunteers, Street Watch group, town pastors and Special Constables were among those present, along with Sudbury mayor Jack Owen.
Inspector Paul Crick, from Sudbury Police, said he would like to thank all the volunteers, of which there are 154 in the district, for their hard work.
“This event was about having the opportunity to gather everyone in one place to show the appreciation of the police as a whole for all their efforts,” said Mr Crick.
He added that all the volunteers played a vital role in reducing crime.
