Halstead residents are being invited to view draft plans for a new community hall in Butler Road.

The plans will be on view at Halstead Library on February 13, from 10am to 7pm, and on February 14, between 10am and 3pm.

During these times, trustees from Halstead Community Centre Charitable Company and the architects behind the designs will be available to answer questions.

Trustee David Iles said the group wants to here peoples’ views before the plans are finalised.

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a new community hub in our town and we need to get it right,” he said.

“Step by step, we are getting closer to making this long-held dream become a reality.”

All feedback from the viewings will be used to inform the final plans before they are submitted for planning permission.

All members of the community are being invited to give their views in order to create a building that most accurately reflects the needs of potential users.

In 2012, a general consultation document was circulated to all households.

The following year, the charitable trust was formed to work with stakeholders and begin consultations with existing groups, clubs and societies.

The information gained so far has been fed into the architect’s early designs.
