An award-winning farm is set to be taken over by one of the country’s most respected philanthropists.

It is believed that Lavenham Brook Farm in Brent Eleigh is being bought by Lady Victoria Getty, the widow of billionaire Sir Paul Getty, and whose charitable trust gives out millions of pounds each year to good causes.

It is thought the purchase of the farm – which includes its award-winning vineyard and herd of champion red poll cattle – will go through by the end of the month.

The farm was put on the market by current owner Nick Thomson in September, with a guide price of £1.2million. At the time, Mr Thomson cited a desire to spend time travelling with his wife Rosemary.
