A Sudbury-based optician has been shortlisted for a prestigious national industry award.

Will Norman, who works at Wardale Williams opticians in Sudbury and its sister company Observatory the Opticians in Ipswich, has been named as a finalist in the Optometrist of the Year category at the annual Optician Awards.

Mr Norman, who has worked for the company since 2008, will join other finalists, including those from big city practices, at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in April, when the winner will be announced.

He said: “It is a huge honour to be named as a finalist and I am looking forward to joining my colleagues at the awards night in April.”

The award is given to an optometrist who uses their skill to enhance the lives of patients, colleagues and the community.

Jonathan Foreman, managing director of the group, said the company was proud of Mr Norman’s achievement.

“We are absolutely delighted Will has been named a finalist at the most prestigious awards within the optical industry,” he said.

“This is a fabulous endorsement of Will’s dedication, professionalism and expertise and we hope he goes on to be named the winner as it would be an accolade truly deserved.”
