Sudbury-based pet food company Nestlé Purina PetCare has announced an endorsement deal with one of the most well-known felines in the world.

The firm, which has a factory in Windham Road, has signed up internet sensation Grumpy Cat to be the face of its Friskies cat food and treats.

The female, mixed breed cat is popular on social networking sites due to its downbeat expression.

Last year, the brown-and-white cat, who lives in Phoenix, America, attracted more than one million views on YouTube – the internet video hosting website – in the space of 24 hours. It also has more than 111,000 followers on Twitter.

The terms of the deal have not been revealed.
