A large contingent of off-road
motorcycle riders from Suffolk, Essex, and Norfolk made the annual pilgrimage to the Weston Beach Race.

There were a number from Sudbury Motorcycle Club taking part in a race, which has been held at Weston Super Mare for more than 30 years.

In the solo class there were high hopes for Jamie Roper, who finished 13th in 2013 and 10th in 2012.

However, it was not his year. Having to start last he hauled himself through the large entry up to 20th, but with 20 minutes to go his machine started playing up.

He was 68th, with his cousin Craig Roper being the best Sudbury member with 40th place.

Glenn Walsh, making his debut, was second best Sudbury rider in 52nd.

In the solo over-40s class Nick Ames was fifth, Andy Quorn 23rd, Graham Mays 24th and Simon Thake 31st.
