A nurse who worked at care homes in Sudbury and Long Melford is facing five misconduct allegations at a Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing this week.

Lilly Mathai, a senior clinical nurse at Chilton Croft care home in Newton Road, is accused of inappropriately force feeding two residents between June 2012 and March 2013.

While working as a nurse at Melford Court nursing home in Hall Street, she is also alleged to have failed to disclose that her fitness to practise had been called in to question and that she was under investigation by Chilton Croft following complaints.

The hearing started on Monday and is expected to conclude tomorrow.

A spokeswoman for the Nursing and Midwifery Council confirmed that a panel had considered all the evidence, before deciding there was a case to answer.

The hearing is taking place at the council’s London offices.
