Pub-goers dressed as pirates and nuns will invade the bar at the Thatcher’s Arms in Mount Bures on Thursday night (September 19).

The nuns are attending a charity fundraising night involving singing along to the Sound of Music.

But the fun doesn’t stop there as the pub is having a pirate-themed beer festival at the same time for the International Talk Like a Pirate day.

The sing-along event is the brainchild of Penny Wilby, from Holbrook Barn Road, Boxford, who is raising money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

She said: “It should be a fun night with a pub full of pirates and nuns. I’ve been inspired to do this for my friend Caroline, who was diagnosed with breast cancer nearly four years ago. I’d like to break the £2,000 target.”

Penny has brewed her own beer to raise money for the charity.
