Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet has agreed to the building of seven new primary schools including one in Sudbury.
The new schools are needed to meet demand from population growth and new housing.
Sudbury has been identified as an immediate priority for a new school as it is experiencing “significant housing growth”.
Funding has been earmarked through the capital programme and the CYP budget to build a school between 2017 and 2019.
In total 1,100 new homes are planned for Chilton Woods in Sudbury, requiring a new 315 place primary school which is earmarked to be on the site of the former All Saints Middle School.
The other new schools will be established between now and 2019 and will be located in Ipswich, Red Lodge, Lakenheath, Lowestoft and Stowmarket.
There are also plans for two new Special Educational Needs schools.
