A brand new piece of play equipment is to be put in a play park in Hadleigh.

The sitting rotator will be installed in Cox’s Park, on Monday, November 2 .

Following an act of vandalism last year, several pieces of play equipment in Cox’s Park had to be repaired but the popular helter skelter had to be removed.

Before going ahead to replace it, officers from Babergh invited local families to an event in May to ask them what type of play equipment they would like.

Those who took part narrowed the options down to a sitting rotator or a climbing slide.

Park users were then given the opportunity to make a straight choice between the two.

The sitting rotator came out on top with 60.5 per cent of the vote.

The new equipment will be ready to use on Thursday, November 5, with the park closed in between. During the closure, the zip wire will also be repaired.

Councillor Frank Lawrenson, Babergh’s portfolio holder for environment, said: “We know this park is highly valued and much loved by the local community and I’m sure the ‘hip hop’ will be a hugely popular addition.”
