The future of a vital village hall has been secured after new committee members were recruited.

Foxearth Village Hall committee was in desperate need of new members after three long-serving volunteers announced their intention to resign at the end of last year.

Chairman Roger Messer and bookings secretary Mary Waite left their positions at the end of February, while former treasurer David Busby also stepped down, leaving the committee short of members.

Under the trust’s deed, a minimum of four committee members are required, with the departures leaving only three.

In January, committee secretary Angela Pacey described the situation as desperate.

The departing members had each given 13 years of service, in which time they had overseen the complete refurbishment of the hall.

Thankfully, four new members have since joined, meaning the hall’s future is once again secure. The committee has stated it would still welcome new members.
