New charity shop opens ... and takes £1,300 on first day

Hundreds of people crowded into Sudbury’s newest charity shop opened by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in North Street on Tuesday.

Wells Hall Primary School pupils cut the ribbon on the charity’s 17th shop.

Press officer Lindsey Sanford said: “The school is a strong supporter of the charity and we thought it would be good to invite them to open it.”

She said Each researched Sudbury – described as having an “over-abundance of charity shops” by TV presenter Fiona Bruce – but was confident the shop would be successful. The day’s takings came to £1,300.
