Suspicious chalk markings are causing concern for dog owners in Sudbury and Great Cornard.

The markings have been found on gates and walls of dog owners in the area and residents are concerned they could have been made by would-be-thiefs.

There have been a number of comments on Facebook pages with concerned dog owners reporting markings.

On Tuesday Louise Odell found chalk marks on the wall of her home and her neighbours’ homes in Beatty Road, Sudbury.

The 28-year-old, who has four dogs, said it was very worrying.

“On Facebook there have been quite a few reports about suspicious chalk marks,” she said. We are concerned people not on social media might not know what to look out for.

A police spokesperson said they had no confirmed reports of dogs thefts in the area, adding there was no evidence of properties being targeted in this way, but asked for suspicious behaviour to be reported.
