A £100,000 first prize is within the grasp of a Sudbury band after they secured a place in the finals of a national singing competition.

Two Steps Twice have reached the last stage of Live and Unsigned – a contest which looks for unsigned bands, vocal groups and solo artists from across the country.

The band, which is made up of nine students from Sudbury Upper School, impressed watching judges at Basildon Towngate Theatre during the area finals.

They will now compete against 70 other acts aiming to be crowned the competition’s overall winner at London’s O2 Arena on July 23

Should they do so, they will walk away with a recording contract, studio time and a world tour.

Lead guitarist Jon Beales said: “It’s our dream to win Live and Unsigned and if we did, it would be fantastic.”

The group has already caught the eye of an independent producer, who invited them to record three of their songs and produce an EP, which will be launched next month.
