Two mothers are staging a fundraising family fun day at Long Melford Primary School on Saturday.

Jenny Skeggs said: My friend and I are organising the day. We both have children with serious heart conditions and are organising it to raise money for the children’s ward at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

“Both our girls have had open-heart surgery in this amazing hospital, and my daughter still needs further open-heart surgery to in the near future.”

Jenny said the children are both out-patients at the London hospital, and both of them will have to continue to go there for the rest of their lives.

The fun day, in the grounds of the school, includes lots of traditional fete stalls with funfair rides, a bouncy castle, a raffle and a tombola.

Jenny added: “The community have been fabulous.

“I organised a sponsored walk and fun day in Bures a few years ago for the same charity and raised over £2,000 on the day. We are hoping this will be bigger and better.”
