A Great Cornard mother who began fundraising for a birth defect charity after her son was born with a cleft lip has seen proceeds from her latest event exceed £200.

A range of stalls packed into the Stevenson Centre earlier this month for a sale, supported by Sainsbury’s in Sudbury, in aid of the Cleft Lip and Palate Association.

Suzy Cardy, who lives with her son Oliver, three, in Glenside, said she was thrilled to raise £217 for the charity.

“We had a lot more stalls than last time and that was very good to see,” she said.

“Oliver has started nursery and is coming on in leaps and bounds.”

Another charity sale will be held at The Granary in Sudbury on Saturday from 1pm to 3.30pm.
