TWO Sudbury groups have benefited from a music sponsorship programme – to the tune of £3,500.

The Eden-Rose Coppice Trust and the Sudbury Town Council-organised Party in the Park have both been awarded sponsorship by the Music Matters initiative, which is run by The John Lewis Partnership which owns Waitrose.

The Eden-Rose Coppice has received sponsorship towards its music festival, Music4Life, which encourages new bands.

Party in the Park takes place at Sudbury’s Belle Vue Park on July 24.

Sudbury Waitrose community co-ordinator Ann Jarvis said staff were delighted to have had their charity bids approved by the initiative.

“It was coming to the close of the sponsorship and so we felt it was worth trying,” she said.

“Eden Rose got £2,500, while Party in the Park was awarded £1,000. We were glad to have applied for this money for these good causes.”
