A GP from Long Melford has urged people to take advantage of a free life-saving flu jab after less than 50 per cent of those eligible received the vaccination.
Dr Christopher Browning, who also chairs the NHS West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Last year, only 37,000 out of 77,000 Suffolk patients in at-risk groups were vaccinated.
“I would urge people to take the risks of flu seriously and not put-off getting a free vaccination from their GP practice.
“Getting the jab is quick and easy and will provide protection against flu that could save their life.”
At risks groups entitled to a free vaccination include; those 65 and over, pregnant women, those in long-stay care homes, carers of elderly or disabled people, children between the ages of two and four; and those with heart, chest or breathing problems.
