Megan appeal gets a £1,000 donation from Cornard firm

The generosity of a Great Cornard company has seen a £1,000 Christmas bonus added to the Free Press Megan Roper appeal.

Web design firm 032 Design, based in Cornard Mills, donated the money after nominating the appeal as its Christmas charity.

It raised the funds after deciding to forgo Christmas cards and presents for its clients.

Managing director Peter Rumsey said the company had been monitoring the progress of the campaign to help five-year-old Megan, from Long Melford, since it began in March.

“We have all been following the appeal in the paper throughout the year and really wanted to support a local charity this Christmas,” said Mr Rumsey, who runs the company with his wife Angela.

“We wanted to put money normally spent on clients to another use and hope this will help the family.”

The donation takes the appeal total to £21,472, although a figure of £46,000 is needed to enable Megan’s parents Sarah and Carl to extend their Swanfield home to better suit the needs of their daughter.

Megan suffers from a mystery condition that causes epileptic fits and makes everyday tasks, such as eating, talking and walking, almost impossible.
