Mark, 31, strikes a pose in bid to help fight against cancer

A charity trekker temporarily put his walking boots to one side to create a calendar to raise money for the fight against cancer.

Mark Wright, from Uplands Road in Sudbury, is planning to walk 40 miles across the desert in Jordan later this year in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

The 31-year-old, who shed five stone in weight last year, also hopes to bolster the charity’s cause with proceeds from his calendar “dirty uniforms” which features him in a different outfit each month.

“I wanted to do something for a male cancer charity because you don’t hear about them as much and this needs bringing to people’s attention,” said Mr Wright.

“The calendars are a bit of fun and hopefully will raise some money.”

Mr Wright said so far around 15 calendars – shot at North Street Studios in Sudbury – had been sold and more sales would provide motivation for his trek.

“I have started going to the gym and walking for two hours every day,” he said.

“I have nine months of training ahead of me. It is a daunting task but hopefully I am up to it.”

Mr Wright will be taking part in a five-day trek from the Dead Sea to Petra in November.
