A man from Hartest has appeared in court to deny 16 sexual offences alleged to have involved a young girl.

Martin Knock, 49, of The Row, pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of sexual assault on a child and four charges of sexual assault of a child by penetration, at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday.

Each of the charges involves an alleged victim who was said to be aged under 13 at the time. The offences are alleged to have been committed in West Suffolk between July 2007 and July 2010.

Judge David Goodin told Knock that his trial, which is due to start in February, was expected to last for up to four days.

He was released on conditional bail.
