Man’s ear bitten and another left with stitches after attack

Two men were injured in an attack outside a pub in Halstead in the early hours of Sunday.

A 40-year-old Halstead man was punched and kicked, leaving him bruised, and a 30-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead had his ear bitten and needed stitches in his head after the incident outside Scenarios in Trinity Street just after 1am.

Police arrested a 31-year-old woman from Halstead and a 29-year-old man from Surrey in connection with the incident and both have been released on bail until September 4 pending inquiries.

Dc Melanie Burns from Essex Police urged a group of people who were stood smoking nearby to come forward.

The attack took place across Trinity Street towards the Esso Station, before stopping near the public toilets on Kings Road. Dc Burns added: “Halstead is normally a quiet place to drink and this level of violence is of concern as we want it as safe place to be.” Anyone with information should call Braintree CID on 101.
