A MAN who died after his car hit a tree on a rural Suffolk road was from Gosfield, police have revealed.

Brain Trigg, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene after his silver Audi struck a tree in Silver Street, Withersfield, near Haverhill, on Wednesday, February 9.

Emergency services were called to the incident shortly after midday.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said that paramedics had attended the scene, but there was nothing they could do to help Mr Trigg.

Following the accident, the road was closed at the junction of Horseheath Road and Skippers Lane, and the A1307 and Silver Street, for around four hours while forensic collision investigators carried out inquiries.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

An inquest into Mr Trigg’s death was opened and adjourned in Bury St Edmunds on Monday.
