Man crushed by lorry named

POLICE have today named the man killed in Tuesday lunchtime’s tragic accident in Sudbury town centre as Frederick Collins from Great Cornard.

The 75-year-old was crushed by a lorry at a pedestrian crossing on Market Hill at around 1.30pm.

Emergency services arrived and found Mr Collins dead at the scene. The 49-year-old lorry driver was uninjured.

A section of Market Hill was closed for five hours while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.

Police are renewing their appeal for information regarding the incident and are urging any witnesses to contact Suffolk Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01473 613500.
