A Great Cornard man has appeared before magistrates to face a long list of sex offences, including four rapes.
Alan Sharpe, of Farford Field, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face a total of 12 charges for offences dating back to the early and mid-1980s.
The 62-year-old is accused of committing six indecent assaults on a girl aged under 14 between October, 1981 and October, 1986.
He is also alleged to have indecently assaulted a girl on one occasion between October, 1983, and September, 1985, and on one occasion in the following 12 months.
Sharpe is alleged to have raped a girl while she was under 16 on four separate occasions, all in a two-year period.
In addition, Sharpe faces two charges of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency while she was under the age of 14.
All the offences are alleged to have taken place in Haverhill.
Sharpe was ordered to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, August 8, where he will be committed for trial. No pleas were entered and he received conditional bail.
