A troupe of Maasai warriors are to perform in Halstead to raise money for a local church.

Organised by Essex law firm Birkett Long, the troupe will visit Halstead’s St Andrew’s Church on October 24 to raise funds for the upkeep of St Andrew’s Church.

Roger Smith, chairman of The Friends of St Andrew’s Church, which is staging the event, said: “We are all in for a treat. I’m told the Maasai warriors’ performance is a sensation to watch.

“All their performances are narrated and tell a story of their lives. The audience is often invited to participate, too.

“We are really lucky to have them here, at one of only two performances taking place in Essex.”

This is the 11th year the troupe has toured Britain and, during that period, they have performed for royalty three times.

Their tours help them raise money for their families in Kenya and other Maasai projects.

Starting at 7pm, tickets are £10 for adults and £8 for concessions.

Tickets are available from Jan Amos on 01787 474650 or Roger Smith on 01787 473138.

Alternatively, they can purchased from Hardy’s Men’s Outfitters in Halstead.
