The popular lunchtime concerts at St Peter’s in Sudbury returned this week with duo Bows and Bellows kicking off the summer-long series.

The free Music at Lunchtime concerts take place every Tuesday from 12.30pm till 1.30pm between now and September.

Next week, the Bel Canto Buskers will take to the stage, giving visitors a break from their screens and the opportunity to enjoy live music with their lunch.

Friends of St Peter’s volunteer Mary Roberts said the initiative had been revived for another year after the success of the concerts last summer.

“It’s good to get people in to the church as a lot of people don’t realise how nice it is,” she said.

Mrs Roberts said the first concert on Tuesday had attracted between 35 to 40 visitors.

The group of volunteers who run each concert also provide tea and coffee.

All donations go towards the upkeep of the former church.

Mrs Roberts said the arrival of warm weather helped bring visitors to St Peter’s, as well as reducing heating costs to make the concerts financially viable.
