Helping animals has motivated a group of children to cycle five miles along the Valley Walk in Sudbury to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund.

Boxford Primary School pupils Madalene Howard, eight, and Natalie Betts, seven, organised a sponsored cycle last year for the same cause.

This year, they recruited school friends Jemima Charlesworth, seven, and Orla McMahon, seven, to cycle along with their siblings Oskar Howard, four and Eliza Betts, 10, all pictured.

Mum Sophia Howard said: “Last year, they raised enough to adopt a turtle and a snow leopard which has been interesting for their class.

“This year, they raised £215 and have renewed their adopted animals and have adopted an elephant, a rhino, a panda and an orangutan.

“They even set up their own club – the Endangered Animals Club – and have been busy recruiting new members.”
